InfoMagnus executed a single-step GHEC-EMU flash-cut migration for a fleet management solutions provider, bypassing traditional upgrade processes and automating Jenkins and RunDeck pipeline reintegration.
A leader in fleet management solutions was operating on an outdated version of GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) and sought a transition to GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) with Enterprise Managed Users (EMU). InfoMagnus was enlisted to execute this complex migration, bypassing traditional two-step processes to deliver a streamlined solution.
The client was constrained by an older GHES version and aimed to leverage the advanced features of GHEC-EMU. They sought a "Flash-cut approach" — a single-step migration that would transfer only specific elements (repositories with commit history) while leaving out issues and other items commonly used in full migrations. Jenkins pipelines also had to be reconfigured to point to the new GHEC-EMU instance.
InfoMagnus developed a single-step migration plan bypassing the need for time-consuming GHES upgrades, helped identify the repositories of importance, and scripted production migration scripts for a smooth migration. Custom scripts were also prepared to automate the reintegration of Jenkins pipelines and RunDeck tooling.
