InfoMagnus partnered with Life360 to migrate over 1,000 repositories across three organizations to GitHub Enterprise Managed Users, on time and without disruption.
The Challenge: Migrating at Scale Without Disrupting the Business.
Life360 had already implemented GitHub Enterprise, yet they were hesitant to transition to Enterprise Managed Users, which would offer more stringent control over user management and security. With their engineering team engaged in numerous projects, Life360 sought the expertise of a partner to facilitate the migration process efficiently.
Precision in Migration: Ensuring a Seamless Transition for Life360.
Working in waves, InfoMagnus planned each migration wave with Life360 teams to ensure timing and to minimize downtime. Many time-sensitive projects and a full release calendar required detailed planning, the right timing, and accuracy in the migration process. Adding to the complexity were a few large repositories greater than 1 GB that needed special consideration and that contained core Life360 product code. To migrate these large repositories, InfoMagnus worked closely with GitHub Product engineers on new migration scripts designed to migrate large repositories with greater ease and better error handling. Through multiple dry run migration tests, active troubleshooting, and close coordination with GitHub on issues encountered, InfoMagnus successfully migrated all Life360 repositories on time to avoid disruption to the team.

Through detailed planning, communication, and close partnerships with GitHub and Life360, InfoMagnus was able to help the Life360 teams complete their migration to the Enterprise Managed User instance. This transition will help management with better user management and security controls over their development teams and operations.
